When creating a lead, you'll encounter various parties involved in the shipment process. Each party plays a crucial role in facilitating the movement of goods and ensuring smooth logistics operations. Here's an overview of the different parties you'll come across:

  1. Billing Party: The entity responsible for the payment of charges associated with the shipment. This party is mandatory to be filled out during lead creation.

  2. Consignee: The recipient or receiver of the goods being shipped. The consignee is typically the party to whom the goods are delivered upon arrival at the destination.

  3. Shipper: The entity or individual responsible for shipping the goods. The shipper is usually the party that initiates the transportation of goods from the origin to the destination.

  4. Notify Party: An additional party designated to receive notifications or updates regarding the shipment. This party may not be directly involved in the shipment but is notified about its progress.

  5. Agent/Broker: A representative or intermediary appointed to handle customs clearance, documentation, or other logistical tasks on behalf of the shipper or consignee.

  6. Self: Refers to the shipper or consignee themselves, indicating that they are acting on their behalf without the involvement of a third-party agent or broker.

  7. Consolidator: A party that consolidates multiple smaller shipments into a single larger shipment for more efficient transportation.

  8. Contract Party: The party with whom a contractual agreement regarding the shipment has been established. This could be the shipper, consignee, or a third-party logistics provider.

  9. Freight Payer: The party responsible for paying freight charges associated with the transportation of goods. This may be the shipper, consignee, or a third-party entity.

  10. Importer: The entity or individual responsible for bringing goods into a country from another jurisdiction.

  11. Manufacturer: The entity or individual that produces or manufactures the goods being shipped.

  12. Additional Notify Party 1, Additional Notify Party 2: Additional parties designated to receive notifications or updates regarding the shipment, similar to the Notify Party.
